Q: What kind of debt can you
consolidate?
A: Any unsecured debts such as credit cards,
lines of credit, department store cards, personal loans judgements and liens,
student loans, medical
bills, business loans, collection accounts, and past due utilities qualify
for consolidation in our program. To qualify for our
program, your debt must total more than $5,000. Secured
debts such as home mortgages and auto loans typically
cannot be successfully consolidated.
Q: What exactly is debt
consolidation? A: Debt
consolidation is the process by which we negotiate with your
creditors to obtain better repayment terms for you on existing
debt. Under our debt consolidation plan, monthly payments are
lowered and interest charges are reduced - often to levels as
low as 6%! You save thousands of dollars in interest rates,
and therefore a reduced payoff period.
Q: Do I have to pay a fee to
use your service? A: Our
non-profit credit counseling agency does require a
contribution on your part to enroll in the debt consolidation
program. This nominal fee covers operation costs and will be
included in your monthly payment. This will be disclosed to
you with the free quote.
Q: Why are creditors willing to work with your
company? A: Creditors are willing to cooperate with our
debt consolidation service in order to avoid losing all
payments in case a client decides to file bankruptcy.
Creditors are willing to grant concessions to our clients in
the form of lower monthly payments and reduced interest
charges, with the understanding that they will at least
receive the principle back under the debt consolidation
plan.
Q: Will debt consolidation
hurt my credit? A: Our
company does not report to the credit bureaus. However, some
of the creditors participating in this program may. This
usually will show up as accounts being paid through a credit
counseling agency. This is not necessarily a negative mark. It
in fact shows that you are trying to pay on your debt
obligations and creditors recognize your efforts. Regular
payments on our program will actually improve your credit
rating over time.
Q: Do I pay the monthly consolidation payment to your
company or the creditor? A: Once you enroll in the our debt
consolidation program, you no longer have to deal with the
creditors. You will send one payment to our credit counseling
company and we in turn disburse it to your creditors on your
behalf.
Q: How will I know when payments are made on your
program? A: Each month you will still receive a statement
through the mail from our company indicating when a payment
has been made and how much.
